Do you need help today?
I regularly ask myself – Do I need help today? There are
always projects to be taken care of, goals to be met,
dreams to be put into place, plans to be made, connections to be created… the
list can go on and on…
Where does one’s satisfaction with a “job well done” come
from… I recently asked the question – Do you need
help today? The response from various people differed… some responded with “No
I’m fine…” to “What do
you suggest?” to “How much time do you have?” to “I thought you were too busy…”
When I was able to get clear
about the level of help I could provide, my energy and interest in helping
increased.
Sometimes, simply being present with another person is all
the help needed. Standing beside a friend during a challenge,
holding them able to find their way through a difficult time can be enough… I
believe in their ability to draw from their
own wealth of wisdom…
At other times, the help requested is a more physical
commitment – helping with a painting project, going to a meeting
to support a loved one, taking time to listen while a loved one connects to
their feelings and finds the strength to set
boundaries that are more self-supportive and empowering.
When I am offering help from my heart, I feel a deep
satisfaction that I am part of the divine plan for that moment. There
is no need to question my contribution – I simply appreciate the opportunity to
stand beside another person.
When I am offering help from a place of “should” my energy
is drained and I feel a deep fatigue – I am unable to be in the
present moment – I am judging myself for “not enough” or “do better”… There is
no satisfaction for myself or the other person.
The lesson is to be present with my feelings and be
truthful about the help I can easily provide from a place of loving connection
and contribution. I reflect upon the level of commitment I can offer while
taking loving care of myself in the “helping”.
Take a few moments to reflect upon the areas of your life
where you offer help to others… are you offering this support from a
heartfelt place or from the “should” place. Your body will give you feedback…
Allow yourself to be in the flow of easy and
helpful, without expectations of yourself or others…

Today, I…
Enjoy the richness of my contribution…
Give from my heart without expectations…
I lovingly support others…
Easily accept help…
And so it is…
